Short Term Goal: touch 3 familiar contacts per day; initiate 2 new contacts per day; study for 30 minutes per day
Positive : I spent a couple of days over the weekend helping a family member work on a roof modification for a new addition and repair of the old roof. I have physically recovered in only one down day. That’s better physical recovery than I had been expecting. My body has not completely abandoned me.
Positive: I was able to take my father and a sons family out to the ranch, the BQ. It was nice to be able to visit the place, renew the memories both positive and negative and to introduce the piece of ground to one of my kids.
Positive: My son came over to help his brother with the roofing project even when he didn’t really want to help. It’s good to see the kids be able to work together even when it isn’t convenient.
A negative: Housing found repairs needed for one rental.
Spin the negative: The repairs that are needed are not overwhelming. They are cosmetic rather that structural or immediate hazards.
The housing inspections gives, ‘piece of mind’, to our renters that the property is sound and in livable condition.
It gets easier to predict the failure points of the housing inspections.

Spin one: driving visiting relatives from the air port to evanston allows me to interact at my choosing on my best behavior, making my wife less uncomfortable. That’s good for our relationship.

Short term goal: 3 established contacts, (AN, CE, JF), 2 new contacts (AH, JS), study one new topic, (Happiness blog mentions)
Positives:
My magna listing is getting shown at least once a week.
I got over to Sunset to stain most of the fence on the east side. The wood was so dry that it soaked up two gallons of stain like a frat boy at a kegger.
Karen went to her walk for hearing meeting without asking me to go.
Negative:
A closing agent for a title company tried to snake the title work for a listing after talking to the seller. She would have had a more convincing argument if she either knew the sellers name, or had spent the 30 seconds it takes to look it up. (Note to self, If I trying to snake business from someone else, spend at least a minute doing some homework.)
Twisted negative:
I learned another way to not represent myself when dealing with people.

Positives:
1. Davis County Fair. Going to the Davis county fair was like going to the rural county fairs of my childhood. From the fried stuff to the splash dog entertainment, including the cheesy carnival rides.
2. Shooting clay pigeons as a family group. Each of us shooting and taking turns and playing together in joy.
3. Grandma powdering the first clay pigeon.
Negative:
Karen has had to return to teaching school this week.
Twisted Negative:
Karen and I have more to talk about each day, It is interesting to watch her evaluate and modify her approaches as she reaches different daily hurdles with struggling kids, administrators, teachers and parents. I often marvel at her persistence and ingenuity.
